The Black Dahlia is a stylish Raymond Chandler like murder mystery which spends little time on Elizabeth Short (The Dahlia), as director Brian DePalma brings us Scarlett Johansson in the image of Veronica Lake and Hilary Swank as a female Waldo Lydecker (Clifton Webb from the 1946 Laura), wrapped in a mystery that is complex but ultimately un-satisfying.
