Welcome to the fourth and final Highlander movie. If you believe that, I've got some ocean front property in Wyoming for sale you need to buy.
In what should have been a direct to video film, Highlander: Endgame delivers no plot, no story you can follow and absolutely horrible special effects.
This is both a continuation of the previous movies and the television series - nothing more.
I won't waste your time with specifics about the film; there are no acting jewels here. The original had Sean Connery and a story and that was enough to get by. Endgame has Christopher Lambert and Adrian Paul. Not much of a comparison.
The special effects, a Highlander mainstay, are horrible. There is a “morph” of Duncan to Connor that looked like it was done on a Etch-a-Sketch. The fight scenes are just as bad - clear misses - looking more like a dance than a battle.
Director Douglas Aariokoski tries to dazzle with landscape flybys and the Highlander standard of lightning. These pale to the effects and detailed fight scenes of the original. Highlander: Endgame is just another example of trying to live on your laurels and further proof that if it's a sequel, it was made to make money and nothing more.
If you feel a need to see this film, wait for the video and get it on dollar night - even then you will have over paid.
