Adam Brody ("The O.C.") plays a budding screenwriter who goes to tend his ailing grandmother in Michigan.
While there, he befriends a housewife suffering from cancer (Meg Ryan) and her teenage daughter (Kristin Stewart).
His relationship with the females resembles something out of a bad movie of the week. There's concerned sharing, long talks, and lots of angst. But, somehow even with all of the bonding, you just don't care much about these characters.
There was a time when Meg Ryan could save a film just by showing up and acting sweet and winsome, but not anymore. To save this one, a script rewrite with believable dialogue and characters would help.
