In part four we meet many of the old characters, Cindy (Anna Faris) and Brenda (Regina Hall) are back, with Craig Bierko (Cinderella Man) as Cindy's love interest.
There are the usual cameos including, Dr. Phil, Shaquille O'Neal, Bill Pullman and Molly Shannon to help drive a bit more humor as this film lampoons The Grudge, The Village and The War of the Worlds.
The Tom Cruise "Oprah" session bashing goes on way too long and what the movie is about escapes me. Unlike its previous namesakes, Scary Movie 4 counts on a plethora of jokes - only a small part are actually funny.
While I get the spoof on War of the Worlds, the film lacked any focus except the many sight gags and it ultimately turned into as big a disappointment. One can only hope that in the next version we see a new director. David Zucker, who took over the series from the Wayans Brothers in SM3, is back and his comic style is no match for the original directors. Zucker with credits like Airplane and a few of The Naked Guns films has lost touch with the comedic sense that audiences need.
The film is worth seeing, but don't expect to be rolling in the isles.
